Tissue paper slitter blades are known by several names on the converting floor: circular blade, bed knife or bottom blade. They cut household paper — tissue, rolled embossed towel, rolled paper — on slitting stations across the converting line. The requirement is constant: high hardness, and a cut edge without burrs so the finished roll looks clean.
Steels and Hardness
Common materials are 9CrSi, 9Mn2V, SKD-11 (D2) and M2, heat treated to HRC 57–66 depending on the abrasiveness of the paper and the line speed. Surface roughness of Ra 0.1 µm on the edge keeps friction — and dust — down. Every blade is checked against the customer drawing before acceptance.

• Outer diameters from 100 mm to 600 mm in standard production.
• Thicknesses from 5 mm to 16 mm for bed knife applications.

Buying Tips for Converting Plants
When comparing suppliers, ask three questions: What is the actual delivered hardness (ask for the certificate, not the brochure)? How is straightness controlled after heat treatment? And can the supplier hold your width tolerances across a full reorder batch? Consistency between orders matters more than a one-off sample.
