The Slotting Pair on Printing Slotting Machines
Male and female slotter blades work as a pair on printing slotting machines to slot carton board and honeycomb board — three-layer, five-layer and seven-layer — into box blanks. The male blade's tooth profile presses and shears the board while the female blade receives it; their geometry, hardness and mutual fit decide the slot's cleanliness and dimensional accuracy.
Male Slotter Blades
Male slotter blades are produced in 5100Cr, SKD-11 and HSS, heat treated respectively to HRC 57–59, 60–62 and 62–65. The tooth profile is laser cut for precision, then hardened with advanced vacuum heat treatment so the edge holds up in high-speed operation. Typical production range: outer diameter 70–500 mm, thickness 6–15 mm, with smoothness Ra 0.05–0.2 and parallelism 0.002–0.003 mm.
Female Slotter Blades
Female slotter blades come in 9CrSi, 9Mn2V and SKD-11 at hardness steps of HRC 57–59, 59–61 and 60–62, selected against the board thickness and slotting frequency of the line. Wire EDM produces the holes so hole-position accuracy is guaranteed, and parallelism within 0.003 mm keeps the pair cutting true. Outer diameters are generally customized between 90 mm and 450 mm.

Specify the machine (BHS, Fosber, Marquip, Tcy, Peters, Futura, Utt and Perini lines are all matchable), the board grades and layers you run, and the wear problem you're solving. Tooth profile, edge shape, hardness and surface finish can all be tuned — supply drawings or samples for OEM production.
