Why Cross-Cutting Quality Decides Your Output
Corrugated cardboard cutting machine knives — often called sheeter knives — are fitted to the rotary knife and straight-blade cross cutters of corrugated lines. As e-commerce keeps pushing cardboard demand upward, these knives run longer and faster than ever. A worn or poorly ground cross-cutter tears the liner, leaves crush marks and forces line stoppages, so blade quality has a direct effect on both production efficiency and machine service life.
Steel Grades That Survive High-Speed Rotation
For continuous high-speed cross cutting we produce knives in through-hardened high speed steels such as SKH-51 and SKH-9, or in an inlaid high speed steel construction where an HSS edge is bonded into a tough alloy body. This combination keeps hardness at HRC 62–64 while preserving the toughness needed to resist edge cracking, with straightness held to 0.01 mm or better.
What Precision Means on the Line
• Balanced toughness and hardness, so the edge resists both wear and chipping.
• Stable mounting and accurate cutting tolerance on rotary knife units.
• Precise hole spacing, so the knife bolts onto the knife drum without rework.
Together these points reduce the load on your corrugator's cutting unit and stretch the interval between regrinds.
Matching Your Corrugator Brand
Cross-cutter knives are manufactured to fit lines from BHS, Fosber, Marquip, Tcy, Peters, Futura, Utt and Perini, as well as older machines. Send the machine model together with the old knife's drawing or sample, and the replacement can be produced to the same geometry — or improved, if your current steel grade wears too fast.
Ordering Cross-Cutter Knives from ZHONGJIAN TECH
ZHONGJIAN TECH manufactures corrugated cardboard cutting machine knives and companion slitting blades for high-speed corrugated lines as OEM production based on your drawings and samples. Our engineers help you pick the steel grade that minimizes sharpening frequency for your board grades, and every knife is hardness-tested before shipment. Contact us for a factory-direct quotation.
